Hey family,

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, and a lot has happened since we sent our oldest off to college. The biggest update? We had a baby! Yes, our family has grown, and I am now a proud mom of four girls.

I made the personal decision to keep this pregnancy quiet until I was about four months along—for many reasons. Honestly, I would have waited even longer, but my husband just couldn’t keep the secret any longer!

Let me be clear:

  • No, I was not ashamed of having another baby.
  • No, I was not embarrassed to be pregnant at 38 years old.
  • No, I was not afraid of starting over.

I simply didn’t want to hear any negative comments. For some reason, women—especially those who are older—often face criticism for choosing to expand their families, and I wanted to avoid that negativity. From the very beginning, I felt protective and private about this pregnancy, which is actually how we chose her name!

As soon as my pregnancy was confirmed, my doctor made it clear that, because I was over 35, this would be considered a geriatric pregnancy. That meant more appointments, more ultrasounds, and heightened awareness of every little symptom to ensure everything went smoothly. I thought that since I was in the best shape of my life, this pregnancy would be a breeze—but it was so different, and I truly believe my age played a role.

A piece of advice: Every pregnancy is different, and sometimes, it can feel like you’re experiencing it for the first time all over again.

This time around, I learned that:

  • Morning sickness doesn’t just happen in the morning.
  • Round ligament pain can be completely immobilizing.
  • Lightning crotch (yes, that’s a real thing) can make your legs go numb.
  • Your feet can swell fast—just from doing everyday activities.

At 39 weeks, we welcomed our baby girl, Mia Jomari, via scheduled C-section. Her sisters are completely obsessed with her! She is perfect, she is so loved, and best of all—she is MINE!
