I finally gave in and ordered groceries online! It took me 2 months, a million YouTube videos and a few google reviews for me to do it. Well... I really didn’t have a choice because I had nothing to cook for dinner and I got off work late. Since it took so much convincing to use it i figured i would write a review to give you my perspective.
Overall the process was very simple. I downloaded the Instacart app, created a profile and typed in my zip code. It was nice to see how many stores used Instacart that I was familiar with. Once I chose the store I began shopping and adding things to my cart. If you are a person that factors groceries into your budget then this would be great for you because you can actually see your total as you are shopping. Once you have added all your items to your cart you are ready to checkout. I’m so glad i read reviews on this before using it because the next step after checkout was choosing the time and payment option. On the payment page it shows your total for the groceries, a service fee, driver tip and taxes. The service fee and the driver tip and 2 different things. Keep in mind the service tip does not go to the shopper/driver. You can also adjust your tip after your groceries were delivered which is something I did because it was raining and I felt bad! Ok! So after you have paid for your groceries you will get a notification stating who will be doing your shopping and when is their estimate arrival time. While the shopper is choosing your items you actually get to see the items they have found. If one of the items is not in stock you will get a notification asking if you would like a refund or approve a substitute. This is why it is important to keep your phone on you while they are shopping for you. Once the shopping is complete you get a notification saying your groceries are on their way! Now the best part of this is that you can actually chat with the shopper to let them know of any changes or specific instructions. I used this option to tell the driver to leave it at my door. Which was nice because I am not comfortable with just anyone coming into my home. MY THOUGHTS! I LOVED IT! It was very convenient and even though I would only use it when I absolutely need to it was a great experience. I didn’t order produce or fruit because I like to choose those things so I don’t know how that works but I did buy frozen foods, canned items and cereal. I also like the fact that even though my total came out to $112 they made me aware that i may see a hold for $130 just in case there were price adjustments. Overall I was pleased with the experience and i would recommend it. If you are like me and review a million reviews before trying something i hope this review gave you a little piece of mind.
